No, tan or not you will always be the same Colour Code. It is a myth that you can wear certain colours with a tan that you would not normally wear. The chances are you may feel more confident with a tan and therefore experiment with a wider range of colours. But your optimum swatch of 35 colours remain the same.

Will I need to get my colours done again when I’m older and my hair and skin tone changes?

No, as you age you will always be the same Colour Code, even if you let your hair go completely grey or white. The impact of your optimum colours will only increase and over the years you will have build up a wardrobe of colours that tone beautifully.

Which is better, a digital swatch or a paper swatch?

Both are invaluable resources and I like using them together. I carry my paper swatch with me everywhere as I like to have an actual physical colour reference. But I find my digital swatch so handy to use and a useful resource when shopping online or if I want a quick colour reference when out and about. It’s also great for sharing with friends and on social when I want to discuss items to buy and style recommendations.

I’ve done the free Quiz and have my Colour Code result. Why should I pay for an enhanced service?

The Colour Code Quiz is a brilliant introductory resource that will give you a seasonal result based on a carefully curated range of distinguishing questions.  It will accurately tell you whether you are a Spring, Summer, Winter or Autumn. If your result feels right and resonate with the colours you love and wear then that’s great and we encourage you to invest in a digital or paper swatch so you can start enjoying and experimenting with your optimum colours.

However, you may have doubts about whether you have answered all the questions in the Quiz correctly and want expert guidance on key signifying details like like how defined your features are whether you have cool or warm undertones. By submitting images or booking a video consultation, I will analyse your complexion, pigment, contrast, bone structure and scale of undertone to give you a more accurate result based on 12 Codes rather than 4. This is the crucial difference. Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn each have three subcategories (including warm, light, deep and bright) that all contain significantly different colour results.

Can I wear colours that aren’t in my Colour Code?

I will never tell you not to wear the colours that aren't in your Colour Code. That is down to personal preference and your unique colour personality. But you have come to The Colour Code for a reason and I will strongly advise you on the best colours to make you look your most incredible, rested, youthful and vibrant. Black, for example, is a very contentious colour as it’s extremely aging and draining. But it is also a glamorous and comforting colour loved by most. If you choose to wear colours outwith your swatch, try to be mindful of the shades immediately around your face as their light will reflect upwards and amplify any imperfections or shadowing.

I want to buy this as a gift. How does it work?

Accepted Answer

You can complete the Image Consultation on behalf of the person receiving the gift (submitting two images and some key information), I will send you their Colour Code and digital swatch and you can give them their result (and a paper swatch if you want) as a gift.
Or you can buy a voucher for an Image Consultation or Video Consultation service and the person receiving the gift can book in at their leisure.
Affirmation cards also make a beautiful gift for people who already know their code.
